The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a federal government initiative that provides funding for adults and children with disabilities, mental health and psychosocial needs to access services and supports needed to achieve their life goals. The NDIS funds support to people with disability to gain more time with family and friends, have greater independence, access to work, study, leisure & community, and improve their quality of life. The NDIS connects anyone with a disability to services in their community, including connections to Allied Health, Community Groups, Support Groups, and Education. In Melbourne, the NDIS rolled out in June 2016.
